Efficiency Apartment Decor

You have moved out and finally have your first place to live. It’s all your own, but it’s also very small. There are ways that you can use this smaller space and make it look bigger and still elegant.

In a lot of these smaller places you will have a room that combines as a living room and bedroom. This is very easily solved with the purchase of a small sofa sleeper, or a futon. Of course if you can’t find one of those items you like you can also use a love seat as a place to sleep at night. Or even buy a chair that is oversized, these can easily be used as a bed at night. Try and get something though that you will be able to sleep in.

Most people have computers so another purchase you will need is that of a desk to place your computer on. Try and get a desk that is small but will also fit your full computer on. If needed you can always place a shelf on the wall for your printer, just make sure it fits fine. With some of these desks you may even have extra storage for books.

Add in an area rug, not only will it look great, but it will help keep the noise down too. Place it under a table and chairs that you may have for your kitchen furniture if you live upstairs. It’s nice to be a bit quiet when you have people below you. An area rug can go into other rooms nicely too, and they will add some warmth and maybe a bit of much needed color.

If you have a smaller kitchen see if you can get a table that you can fold into the wall or up on the wall when you’re not using it. Get a couple of chairs that fold up and can be placed away or that guests can use to sit in.

In a smaller place it is a great idea to put up shelves. You will most likely have more wall room than floor. In fact some of these apartments are so small that you need shelves up to place items around the room. Plus it’s a nice way to add some decorations to the wall. Don’t forget to check out sales for some ways to save money.

The furniture that you buy will have to fit inside the room and still give you a place that you can walk and move around the place. That’s why it is important before you head out to buy anything as far as furniture that you measure to see how much room you really have. Don’t forget you don’t have to spend a lot of money on furniture look for those good deals at flea markets and garage sales. Remember that most people junk will find a home in someone else’s place, and may in fact be their treasure.

House Plants for Apartments in All Sizes

Living in an apartment anywhere, you don’t have room for a big garden outdoors but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy indoor plants in the rooms you spend most of your time in.

Gardening is available and possible for those who live in small apartments and in large apartments alike. You can have indoor plants near any window, in the kitchen, or in the living areas.
