Going into the unknown is always something of an unnerving experience, and starting university for the first time is no exception. The York University states that there are about 3,000 students from 175 countries. This eclectic mix of individuals will be an exciting challenge for any student as they learn about other countries and people. The different faculties within York University have a good way of joining students together. They tend to make up groups of like minded people who share the same interests and who are following similar study programs. They can then explore each other’s likes and dislikes, and build great relationships. The social life here on campus is superb. As well as debating groups, discussions forums, and some cool student bars where you can get together with your follow students and just chill out, there is also a superb agenda of other activities including hobby groups, games, and sports. These are mostly evening “get-togethers” to give everyone the best chance of joining in. The only students that do sometimes miss out on this opportunity are the “day” students who go back home when lectures are over. They really don’t know what they are missing.
In addition to the accommodation on campus, York University also has a selection of homes and town houses off campus where students can stay. They are all based very close by so there’s no problems getting in and out on time.
